Haydn’s Oratorio The Creation – Vienna and Roudnice
Oratorio The Creation, considered to be one of the highlights of Haydn’s oeuvre, became immensely popular soon after its premiere in 1798. The popularity of the composition spread quickly also through Bohemia, particularly thanks to Josef František Maxmilián, 7th Prince Lobkowicz. The Prince himself later sang the main part of the Archangel Raphael in the first performance of the Czech version of the oratorio, which was given at Roudnice Castle in 1805.
The talk will take place in October 2016, the exact date will be specified soon.Back
