Ensemble Fiorello (“little flower” in Italian) is a Czech female chamber group specializing in early music performed on original period instruments, or their copies. The ensemble was formed in 2011 by enthusiastic young female musicians (students of the greatest music schools and conservatories both in the Czech Republic and abroad), who share an interest in the art and culture of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Its repertoire includes vocal and instrumental music that was typical in the major cultural centers of Europe during the baroque period, including at the royal courts of France, Italy, Germany, England, and Bohemia. Courtly entertainment was also intricately linked with dance, and the ensemble offers several programmes that feature typical dance music of the time, accompanied by baroque dances performed by one of the ensemble’s founding members. Their performances aim to transport the audience back through the centuries, realistically evoking the atmosphere of past times.

Ensemble Fiorello was awarded a scholarship in 2012 to attend the International Early Music Summer School in Gmunden, Austria, where they were awarded 1st prize in the ABA Music Award. Within only a few years of their existence, the ensemble has already performed on concert and festival platforms both at home and abroad (including the “Salzkammergut Festwochen Gmunden” and “Klassik Festival Schloss Kirchstetten” in Austria, the international sacred music festival “Musica Sacra Nitra” and the early music festival “Ars Antiqua Europae in via Gothica” in Slovakia, the International Haydn festival “Haydnovy hudební slavnosti”, and further festivals such as “S hudbou za památkami plzeňského kraje” and “Hudební léto Borska”).
