The Story of Loreto Facade at Prague Loreto
Prague Loreto is one of the most popular sights in Prague and the history of its façade is the main theme of the 2016 annual exhibition. The Lobkowicz Collections contributed to this exhibition by a facsimile of unpublished copper engraving featuring festively decorated Loreto façade and by facsimile sketches for sculptural decorations from the Lobkowicz Archives.
The exhibition, in cooperation with leading experts on baroque architecture and heritage preservation, tells in an engaging and interactive way the story of the recognized baroque landmark with special focus on the 17th and 18th century – the period when the façade as we know it today was conceived and created by significant architect Krištof Dientzenhofer on impulse of Filip Hyacinth, 4th Prince Lobkowicz and later finished by Dientzenhofer’s son Kilián Ignác.
The exhibition runs from 15 June until 31 December 2016.Back
