Festivals at Střekov Castle
This majestic castle Střekov stands 100 meters above the river Elbe in northern Bohemia. Střekov is a romantic place which you’ll love from your first visit. Only 90 km from the capital city you will appreciate the beautiful views of the splendid hills while listening to your chosen music. The castle is a great place for different types of events, including Sunday fairy tales for children. The most important festival is “Střekovské hudební léto” (Střekov Musical Summer), where you can listen different musical genres on the upper terrace.

The popular two-day open air fundraising festival “Útulek fest” was held for the fifteenth time. Raised money from the festival is traditionally used for dog shelters in the Ústí nad Labem region.

Střekov Musical Summer
29.7. – 26.8. 2016
For the eighth time the famous music festival will be held on the upper terrace of the Střekov castle. Three separate concerts, featuring different musical genres will be played in a great landmark of the city of Ústi nad Labem, from July to August.
Friday, 29 July 2016 starting at 8 pm – Blue Effect unplugged (rock)
The Czech rock group, Blue Effect, opens the festival. Guitarist Radim Hladík is one of the original members of the group dating back to their founding.
Saturday, 13 August 2016 starting at 8 pm – Vladimír Mišík & ČDG, special guest: Mirek Kovářík (folk rock)
The concert offers an interesting thematic, musical and poetic collage, whose distinctive atmosphere won’t vanish.
Vladimir Misik is a rock singer, composer, lyricist who for years has been ironically nicknamed by his teammates and friends as Legend. Many of his songs have become popular and, for several generations have inspired both amateur and professional guitarists.
Mirek Kovářík is the founder of the small theater movement from the 60 years. His “Docela malé divadlo” (Pretty Small theater) (1962-1969) produced during its seven-year of existence around 20 titles and also created a special performance style. His concert at Střekov is the connection of the two genres, such as music and poetry in the style of an endless jam session.
Friday, 26 August 2016 starting at 8 pm – Laurence Jones Band UK (blues)
Laurence was the recipient of the prestigious Young Artist of the Year award at the British Blues Awards. In his 23 years, he has won several awards at the world’s blues scene. In 2013, the famous Walter Trout invited him to be his opening act. Walter paid homage to him by saying: “Laurence is something between Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy, he is simply a genius.”
