Opening of the Castle Season in Nelahozeves

Saturday 24. 3. 2018, from 9 am to 5 pm

Winter is almost over and what better way to come out of hibernation than with a trip for the whole family! After carefully cleaning off the locks, we want to celebrate the opening of the castle gate to the 2018 season in style.


Costumed Castle Ball with Princess Polyxena for children and adults in the Knights Hall starting at 11:00
Adult and children tours of the castle every 20 minutes (reservation recommended)
Lego® workshop at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 (reservation recommended)
Face painting
Game contests in the courtyard
The first sausage roasting of the season – the first 100 visitors get sausages on us!
Performance of the Fjords Quartet’s Dancing with Horses at 9:30, 11:30, 13:30, and 15:30
Horse riding all day
Demonstration of how our everyday heroes, firefighters, use their rescue car
Delicious food and craft markets to delight the mouth and eye.

Pottery Festival

21 – 22 April 2018, 9 am – 5 pm

For many years Nelahozeves Castle has hosted the Pottery Festival during the month of April, and this year is no exception.  In addition to the traditional fair with a variety of crafts, the festival will feature a new and varied program for children, music, sweet and savory goodies, and Lobkowicz wines!  Hop on steam trains to travel to the castle in the stylish mode of Ferdinand Zdenko, 10th Prince Lobkowicz’s time! The train departs from the station Praha Braník on Saturday, 21. 4 at 8:50 am and departs from the castle at 5:09 pm. Whether you arrive by steam train or another train of Czech Railways, show your Czech Railways ticket at the festival to get a 30% discount on admission.

Advent Festival

Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27 November 2016
From 9 am until 5 pm

This hugely popular festival features fantastic Christmas markets, Advent concerts, and entertaining performances for children. Many “hands-on” activities such as arts and crafts workshops and gingerbread cookie decorating offer fun for the entire family. In addition to the most popular of Czech festival cuisine and holiday treats, you may also enjoy specialty teas in the Tea Room and dining in the Castle Restaurant.
The castle grounds boast more than 100 handicraft stalls featuring merchandise from local artists making this is the perfect opportunity to find that unique Christmas gift or decoration you won’t find in the crowded city stores.
For visitors who have enjoyed past years’ festivals, this year will host many new and exciting features, such as a live nativity scene, acoustic dulcimer music in the castle cellar and an even wider array of new booths and vendors.
The Castle Museum exhibition will also be open for guided tours from hosts in period costumes.


Pumpkin Day

Saturday, 15 October 2016 from 9 am until 5 pm
Each year before the end of the season, Nelahozeves Castle hosts an autumn celebration for all pumpkin lovers. Join us for the 4th annual Pumpkin Day. Last year we welcomed 1500 visitors and decorated over 760 kilograms of pumpkins!
The Castle will welcome visitors to the courtyard where guests will find great pumpkin workshops and assorted craft booths within the Castle’s Renaissance interiors. Children can look forward to theater performances, an adventurous trip to the Castle Park, and much more.
The day is perfect for a family day trip to the countryside and ideal for those who want to get into the spirit of the fall season!

Night of Castles

Saturday, 27 August 2016
Join us for the 7th Annual National Castle Night! Organized by Národní památkový ústav, the annual “Hradozámecká noc” event will take place on the last Saturday in August. The program features castles after dark and offers visitors a rare opportunity to explore the mysterious interiors and exteriors after the sun goes down. This year, Nelahozeves Castle will welcome guests participating in the program for the 5th time. Come and see the enchanting Castle at night and enjoy night tours, romantic meals by candlelight and so much more!

Spring Pottery Market

Saturday, 16 April and Sunday, 17 April 2016
This hugely popular, family-friendly event celebrates traditional Bohemian pottery and ceramics, music, wine and food in the magnificent interiors and on the lovely grounds of The Castle.
The two-day program includes tours of The Castle’s exhibition, Private Spaces: A Noble Family at Home, by guides in period costume; falconry shows; historical games and activities; a puppet theater and a variety of children’s craft workshops.
An excellent assortment of lunch and dessert options from Lobkowicz Catering are served in the serene courtyard and garden, and award-winning Lobkowicz Roudnice wines can be sampled and purchased at stands throughout the property.
Also open throughout the weekend is the Castle Gift Shop, where you can find a wonderful selection of unique gifts, including jewelry, hand-blown glass, postcards and other souvenirs.
